ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An improvement is provided in a fluidized bed apparatus intended to fluidize solid particles by means of ascending stream gas. The improve- ment is intended to reduce solid particles en-trained from the apparatus, and comprises the disposition of an internal member in the free board of the apparatus so that the projected area ratio is not less than 0.8, and the opening projection to the free board cross-sectional area is within 0.3 to 0.9. This substantially increases the productivity of the reactor per cent volume, by significantly reducing the entrainment of solid particles from the reactor.
