2720/CAN ABSTRACT The invention provides a fluidized bed furnace in which heat is extracted from the furnace by the passage through a coil immersed in the bed of finely divided solid material that can discharge into the bed when the furnace is closed down. In this way, the pressure difference across the walls of the tube can be kept small so that the wall thickness can be kept small.
