ABSTRACT A fluorescent light fixture modification kit allows existing fixtures utilizing long fluorescent lamps to be modified to use shorter lamps for simplified lamp replace- ment, and also makes use of a hinged ballast plate for simplified servicing of the wiring and ballast transformer. The modification kit allows retention of the base plate and incoming wiring of existing lamp fixtures, thus allowing a substantial cost saving when all of the fluorescent lamp fixtures of a large building are being replaced. The sim- plified lamp replacement and fixture servicing are compat- ible with a reduction in the manpower required for those functions. Two forms of the replacement kit are described.
