Thermoplastic, non-water soluble, fluorescent pigments having improved lightfastness are provided which are suitable for coloring a variety of materials including plastics, particularly polyolefins, as well as paints, inks and textiles. The lightfast pigments of the present invention have several embodiments, the polyamide, polyamide ester and the polyester embodiments. They comprise copolymerized units of fluorescent dye and monomers such as dicarboxylic acids, polycarboxylic acids, diamines, polyamines, alkanolamines, carboxyalcohols, carboxyamines and difunctional and/or polyhydric alcohols. The fluorescent dye is reacted into, and covalently bound to the polymer backbone. The addition of an optional light stabilizer further enhances the lightfastness of the pigment. The invention also relates to a method of making such lightfast pigment.
La présente invention concerne des pigments thermoplastiques fluorescents, non hydrosolubles, se distinguant par leur solidité à la lumière et convenant à la coloration de divers matériaux, y compris les plastiques, et plus particulièrement les polyoléfines, ainsi que les peintures, les encres et les textiles. Les pigments de la présente invention font l'objet de plusieurs modes de réalisation, polyamide, polyamide ester et polyester. Ils comprennent des unités copolymérisées de colorant fluorescent et des monomères tels que les acides dicarboxyliques et polycarboxyliques, les diamines, les polyamines, les alcanolamines, les carboxyalcools, les carboxyamines et les alcools difonctionnels et/ou polyhydriques. Le colorant fluorescent est introduit par réaction dans l'ossature polymère à laquelle il se lie par covalence. L'adjonction d'un photostabilisant facultatif permet d'accroître encore plus la solidité à la lumière du pigment. L'invention concerne également un procédé d'obtention d'un tel pigment solide à la lumière.
