It is intended to provide a novel fluorescent protein originating in an organism other than Aequorea coerulescens. Thus, a fluorescent protein originating in Galaxea fascicularis which has the following characteristics is provided: (1) having an average molecular weight of about 27000; (2) forming a tetramer in the equilibrated state; (3) showing the maximum excitation wavelength of 492 nm and the maximum fluorescent wavelength of 505 nm; (4) showing a molar absorbance index of 74100; (5) showing a quantum yield of 0.625; and (6) having a low pH-sensitivity of the fluorescent properties within a pH range of 5 to 12.

La présente invention concerne une nouvelle protéine fluorescente provenant d'un organisme autre que Aequorea coerulescens, à savoir de Galaxea fascicularis, et qui possède les caractéristiques suivantes : 1) un poids moléculaire moyen d'environ 27.000 ; 2) qui forme un tétramère à l'état d'équilibre ; 3) qui présente une longueur d'onde d'excitation maximale de 492mm et une longueur d'onde d'émission de fluorescence maximale de 505mm ; 4) qui possède un coefficient d'extinction molaire de 74.100 ; 5) qui possède un rendement quantique de 0,625 ; et 6) dont les propriétés fluorescentes présentent une faible sensibilité au pH comprise dans une gamme de pH de 5 à 12.
