An improved emulsion polymerization process for producing an oil and water repellent finish for textiles wherein the improvement comprises polymerization in an aqueous solution containing 0.1 to 4.9% by weight of dipropylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate or propylene glycol diacetate relative to water is disclosed.

L'invention concerne un procédé de polymérisation d'émulsion améliorée en vue de produire un apprêt hydrophobe et oléofuge pour des textiles. L'amélioration réside dans le fait que la polymérisation en solution aqueuse contient 0,1 à 4,9 % en poids d'acétate d'éther monométhylique de propylène glycol ou de diacétate de propylène glycol par rapport à l'eau.
