This invention provides durably hydrophilic, thermoplastic fiber comprising a thermoplastic polymer, such as polyamide, polyurethane, or polyolefin, e.g., polypropylene, and a mixture of: (a) one or more fluoroaliphatic group-containing nonionic surfactants and (b) one or more nonionic, non-fluorinated, polyoxyethylene group-containing surfactants that contain between 20 and 80 weight percent polyoxyethylene. The mixture of the surfactants (a) and (b) is present in the fiber in an amount sufficient to impart durable hydrophilicity to the fiber at its surface. Durably hydrophilic films and durably hydrophilic fabrics and webs constructed from said fibers are also disclosed.

Cette invention permet d'obtenir une fibre thermoplastique, hydrophile et durable, laquelle fibre comprend un polymère thermoplastique, tel que du polyamide, du polyuréthanne ou une polyoléfine comme du polypropylène, ainsi qu'un mélange comprenant les éléments suivants: (a) un ou plusieurs tensioactifs non ioniques contenant des groupes fluoroaliphatiques, et (b) un ou plusieurs tensioactifs non ioniques, non fluorés et contenant des groupes polyoxyéthylène dans un pourcentage en poids allant de 20 à 80. Le mélange des tensioactifs (a) et (b) est présent dans la fibre dans une quantité suffisante pour conférer à la surface de cette dernière des propriétés hydrophiles durables. Cette invention concerne également des films ainsi que des tissus et des voiles hydrophiles durables fabriqués à partir de ces fibres.
