Closed cell fluoropolymer foams are prepared by subjecting a fluoropolymer resin to inert gases at an elevated pressure and at a temperature above the softening point of the resin and reducing the pressure while the temperature is maintained above the softening point of the resin, resulting in expansion of the resin. The resin is cross-linked prior to expansion to result in a low density, high quality product.
On prépare des mousses de fluoropolymère cellulaires en exposant une résine de fluoropolymère à des gaz inertes à une température élevée et à une température supérieure au point de ramollissement de la résine, et en réduisant la pression alors que la température est maintenue au-dessus du point de ramollissement de la résine, ce qui induit l'expansion de cette dernière. On réticule la résine avant l'expansion pour produire un produit de grande qualité et à basse densité.
