FLUSHABLE SANITARY NAPKIN Abstract of the Disclosure A sanitary napkin is disclosed which includes a flushable absorbent pad and an extremely flushable nonwoven fibrous cover that is bonded with a totally water-soluble resinous binder. The cover is reinforced with hot-melt adhesive means in spaced selected generally rectangular zones to increase the wet strength of the cover in areas of high stress which have the probability of being wetted by menstrual fluid, and the increase in wet strength is achieved without impairing the flushability of the cover. The hot-melt adhesive means is applied in spaced discrete lines in each of the zones and the total area of the zones comprises approxi- mately 30 percent of the total area of the cover. -1-
