FS 1171 A B S T R A C T Fluxes for casting metals, especially ferrous ones e.g, steel and especially for continuous casting, are powdery and comprise (1) a sintered or fused composition comprising a refractory metal oxide and a fluxing agent and (2) cellulosic material. The cellulosic material is preferably in an amount of 1 to 10% by weight and it may be e.g. partly defibred bagasse.
