A fly tying device is mountable to a vertical post which supports a fly tying vice. The vertical post supports the fly tying device by a base mountable to the vertical post. The base supports a radially spaced apart array of vertically extending first arms rotatably mounted at lower ends thereof to the base. The arms are radially spaced apart about a hook clamped in the vice when the base is mounted to the vertical post. The first arms have filament supports mounted at upper ends thereof for supporting thereover fly tying filaments such as thread or dressing material being wound onto the hook. A vertically extending second arm is mounted at a lower end hereof to the base. The second arm is formed, at an upper end thereof, as a cantilevered parachute clip support for supporting a parachute clip in proximity to the hook.
