A flying toy or kite is provided which generates lift by spinning as it rotates at the end of a loop of string. The toy, fabricated of an extruded polystyrene foam core with laminated, thin plastic sheet surfaces, has four major components including a notched wing to spin about a central axis, a disc-shaped fin which attachs to the wing at the centre notch of the wing and two disc-shaped fins which attach to the wing at notches located one-quarter of the length of the wing from either end of the wing. A dowel is attached to the wing extending along the central portion of the wing and a short length beyond each end of the wing. Rotating swivel fittings are attached to both ends of the dowel. The disc-shaped fins have slotted openings cut in them for receiving the wing. The slotted openings each have a semi-circular indentation along one side to accomodate the dowel attached to the wing.
