The present invention involves a fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine for small utility implements. The engine includes a crankcase with a cylinder bore. The crankcase rotatably supports a crankshaft having a flywheel and a magnet disponed on an outer periphery of the flywheel. The crankshaft is also connected to a reciprocating piston disposed in the cylinder bore. A cylinder head is attached to the crankcase over the cylinder bore, and a fuel injector is disposed in the cylinder head. The fuel injector is in communication with a fuel supply and can inject quantities of fuel into the cylinder head. An induction coil is disposed adjacent to the flywheel, and is coupled to the fuel injector so that rotation of the flywheel generates a pulse on the induction coil that actuates the fuel injector. A fuel pump is driven by the crankshaft and supplies pressurized fuel to the injector. A timing control circuit is connected to the fuel injector and the induction coil to regulate the operation of the fuel injector. The timing control circuit interrupts the induction coil with a pulse width modulated signal when the duration of the actuating pulse exceeds a calculated duration to close the fuel injector. A pressure sensor is disposed in the cylinder head and provides an input to the timing control circuit.

Cette invention concerne un système d'injection de carburant pour moteur à combustion interne de petites machines utilitaires. Le moteur comprend un bloc-cylindre dans lequel est monté à tourillon un vilebrequin dont le volant d'inertie porte un aimant sur son pourtour. Le vilebrequin est raccordé à un piston alternatif disposé dans le cylindre du bloc-cylindre. Une culasse montée sur le bloc-cylindre au-dessus du cylindre comporte un injecteur de carburant relié à un réservoir d'alimentation. Une bobine d'induction est disposée à côté du volant d'inertie et raccordée à l'injecteur pour qu'elle envoie à celui-ci un courant haute tension de commande à chaque tour dudit volant. Une pompe de carburant animée par le vilebrequin alimente l'injecteur en carburant sous pression. Un circuit de distribution raccordé à l'injecteur et à la bobine d'induction règle le fonctionnement du premier. Ce circuit neutralise la bobine d'induction au moyen d'un signal modulé en durée lorsque l'impulsion haute tension empiète sur le temps de fermeture théorique de l'injecteur. Un capteur de pression monté dans la culasse contribue à régler le fonctionnement du circuit de distribution.
