Abstract of the Disclosure A foam is coated with silicone rubber. The silicone rubber is an oxime cured room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) grade highly filled with hydrated alumina. The coating may be applied to the foam by any convenient means and a thickness of the order of about 0.3mm is suitable for most applications. The coated foam is flame retardant and may be used as an insulating material for aircraft.
