The invention relates to methods and compositions for controlling foam, i.e., defoaming or inhibiting the formation thereof, in aqueous systems including wastewater systems and in aqueous industrial process systems by adding primary alcohol, alcohol alkoxylate, and emulsifier to the aqueous system, such as in a stable aqueous composition.

Cette invention concerne des méthodes et des compositions permettant de réduire ou d'empêcher la formation de mousse dans des systèmes aqueux, dont des systèmes d'eaux usées et des systèmes de traitement industriel faisant intervenir de l'eau. A cette fin, on ajoute un alcool primaire, un alcool alcoxylé et un émulsifiant au système aqueux, par exemple à un système aqueux pour fabrication de papier.
