ABSTRACT A foam dispenser having a relatively large container provided in communication with a relatively small container. The latter is in communication with a pump, whereby the pressure acting upon the contents of the small container is selectively increased by the action of the pump. The foam producing region of the dispenser is supplied with foamable liquid from the small container whereby the relatively small optimum size of the foam producing components required to produce superior foam quality is maintained. The foamable liquid is forced from the small container into the foam producing region by operating the pump to increase the air pressure within the small container. The small container communicates with the large container through a one-way valve, which prevents liquid flowing from the small to the large container. As the pump stroke reverses and the air pressure within the small container decreases, liquid is drawn from the large container into the small container. The large container therefore acts as a long-term reservoir to replenish the liquid forced from the small container, and the smaller container acts as a short-term reservoir of liquid to be fed to the foam producing region of the device. Thus, the invention provides a method and means of utilizing foam producing systems, currently limited to use with smaller containers, for use with containers of much greater capacity.
