BTZ 023 P2 Abstract Methods are disclosed for applying a foam comprising a freeze control agent, such as a brine, ethylene glycol, or cellulose ether, to a solid particulate material, such as coal or mineral ores to inhibit freezing and increase flowability and handling properties of the solids. Stability of the foam is enhanced by use of anionic and/or amphoteric surfactants in the foamed composition. Aqueous compositions, ready for foaming, comprising freeze control agent, and an anionic and/or amphoteric surfactants are also disclosed.
