ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION This invention provides a closed cell foamed film formed from a mixture of low density polyethylene and at least one ethylene polymer containing polar groups, and optionally, a crystalline olefin polymer, in which the mixture contains 0.025 to 1 per cent by weight of said polar groups. The closed cell foamed film may be suitable for use as a wallcovering base having a finer cell structure and a smoother surface compared with open celled foamed films. A process for the preparation of the films is described and exemplified.
