ABSTRACT A fold-up portable ladder has U-shaped sections that are connected by hinges. The lower arm of each U- shaped section defines the ladder rungs. Latches adapt- ed to fit into and mate with an aperture located in the vertical portions of the U-shaped section are position- ed at the lower ends of each U-shaped section. These sections become progressively narrower as they approach the top section of the ladder.
