A B S T R A C T FOLDABLE LADDER AND HINGE THEREFOR A hinge for a folding ladder is disclosed having a pair of hinge elements coupled on one axis for relative rotation in a first position. Each of the hinge elements has an abutment surface defining a plurality of formations, with the formations on the first of the hinge elements being complimentary to the formation on the second of said elements. Also provided is a means for displacing the elements along the axis from the first position to a second position, wherein formations on the first element interengage the formation on the second element, thereby inhibiting relative rotation between the first and second elements. In addition, a ladder is disclosed with the hinge. Also disclosed is a method of interconnecting first and second ladder segments.
