A folding jet boat for search-and rescue operations to be launched and recovered from an amphibious aircraft. The folding jet boat comprises a centre hull, a jet propulsion unit mounted on said centre hull, a steering nozzle mounted aft of said propulsion unit, a steering member connected to steering nozzle for steering said boat, starboard and port sponsons hingedly connected to said centre hull, said sponsons being pivotal from a folded position to an unfolded position, a locking means for locking said sponsons to said centre hull in an unfolded configuration, and a means for actuating said sponsons from said unfolded configuration to said folded position
