ABSTRACT A folding box for the accommodation of a roll of wound plastic bags is provided with a closing flap which completely overlaps the front wall of the box. In the lower part a closing flap is glued firmly to the front wall. In the central part the closing flap is separable by means of a tear-off strip, so that the area connected to the lower part of the front wall may be separated from the upper part, the upper part of the closing flap remaining attached to the cover of the box. The upper part of the closing flap may be inserted between two retaining flaps on the front wall. The area remaining after the tear-off strip has been removed forms an aperture for the withdrawal of plastic bags, a tear- off flap of approximately trapezoidal cross-section being for- med in the vertical area. Since the front wall is connected to the lower part of the closing flap, not only tear-off flap but also the entire lower limiting edge of the withdrawal aperture has two layers and is therefore reinforced. Such re- inforcement is not found in folding boxes presently used for similar purposes.
