Abstract "Food Casin" A two-layer food casing for directly encasing foods is disclosed. This is prepared from textile fabrics using acrylic resins, in which the textile fabrics are coated with a soft acrylate emulsion polymer I, optionally combined with two other acrylate emulsion polymers II and III. Emulsion polymer I is synthesised from a) at least 90% by weight, based on the entire polymer I of a lipophilic monomer component A based on esters of acrylic and/or methacrylic acid with lower alkanols and 0 to 10% by weight, based on component A, of other comonomers, the content of methyl methacrylate not exceeding 40% by weight, based on the total polymer I, b) a hydrophilic monomer component B with acidic properties in amounts of from 0 to 5% by weight, based on the total polymer I, c) a cross-linking monomer component C in amounts of from 0 to 7% by weight, based on the total polymer I. The emulsion polymer II which may also be used is a harder acrylic resin and the emulsion polymer III is a drying agent. A method for coating the textile fabric is also described as are foodstuffs prepared using the casing.
