2066620 9103942 PCTABS00003 A molding and portioning apparatus for forming food products into portions of more uniform shape, size, and weight, and increased output as compared with the prior art. The apparatus includes first and second spaced hoppers (21 and 22) which receive a supply of a food product under a predetermined pressure, and discharge the product through plural outlet openings (32) therein. Plural pistons (33) are slideably mounted in plural cylinders (40) which communicate with the hoppers and are aligned with and opposite of the outlet openings (32). Each piston (33) is independently pneumatically biased in the direction of the hoppers (21 and 22) under a pressure which is less than the pressure of the product, for equalizing the pressure applied to the product at each of the outlet openings (32), providing the desired uniformity. A slide plate (50) is formed with first and second spaced sets of mold cavities (51).
