A ribbon-shaped food-packing film of a synthetic material such as polyethylene (20) has one or both side edges incised with short cuts (18) at right angles to the side edges, at spaced intervals along the ribbon. The cuts are preferably 1-mm deep and are spaced at intervals of 10 to 50 mm. The ribbon is wound as a roll (10) on a supporting core (14).
