Abstract of the Disclosure A multipurpose food processing appliance having a closed loop microprocessor speed control includes a drive unit having an electric motor adapted for driving connection with a food processing implement. A magnetic tachometer measures the speed of the electric motor and supplies a speed signal to a microprocessor which controls a triac connected to the electric motor for control thereof. The microprocessor is controlled by signals generated by a membrane keyboard.
