ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The present invention is for a method of refrigerating food items. It consists of a vertically-spiral endless belt conveyor which carries the food thereon. The conveyor is contained within a thermally insulated framework. Cold air is passed over the belt to refrigerate the food. An external adiabatic partition wall is positioned about the framework to pre-cool and dehumidify the atmospheric air before it passes into the space surrounding the conveyor. This method eliminates the problem encountered with known methods where excess frosting occurs on the food.
