The present invention provides a food supplement and method for aiding in the prevention or treatment of a respiratory disease. The present invention further provides the foodstuff or food supplement as an ergogenic acid. The food or food supplement of the present invention comprises one or more antioxidant vitamins in combination with one or more of eugenol, selenium, a carotenoid, a flavenoid, a phyto-estrogen, a proanthrocyanidin herbal phenolic compound or urbiquinone.
