The warming device of the present invention includes a food pan or tray (12) formed from metal so as to promote the conduction of heat to the food contained in the tray (12). The tray (12) is held within a sump vessel (14) which, during use contains a heat transfer fluid such as water. The sump vessel (14) is a unitary bowl-shaped, i.e., dish-shaped container having side walls (14a-14d) and a bottom wall (14e) and an upper open wide mouth for receiving the food tray (12) whereby the food tray (12), when inserted, is located within the sump vessel (14) so that the bottom portion of the food tray (12) is spaced from the wall of the sump vessel (14) to define a chamber (32) suited for containing water and steam between the sump vessel (14) and the food tray (12).

Dispositif chauffant constitué d'un plateau de chauffe en métal (12) qui permet de promouvoir la conduction thermique vers les aliments contenus dans ce plateau (12). Celui-ci (12) est soutenu dans un récipient de réception (14) qui, durant l'utilisation, contient un fluide caloporteur comme de l'eau. Le récipient (14) s'avère un contenant autonome en forme de bol (c.-à-d. à pente incurvée) ayant des parois latérales (14a-14d), une paroi inférieure (14e) et une ouverture complète supérieure destinée à recevoir le plateau (12). Lorsqu'il est inséré, le plateau (12) se retrouve à l'intérieur du récipient de réception (14) de façon que la partie inférieure du plateau (12) soit espacée de la paroi du récipient (14), afin de définir un compartiment (32) adapté pour contenir l'eau et la vapeur entre le récipient (14) et le plateau (12).
