The foot (10) includes a dish-shaped lower wall (12) configured to be supported by the earth at the bottom of the hole and rib structure (44) on the bottom wall for distributing loads throughout the entire extent of the bottom wall (12). After the hole is back filled the foot resists lateral and up-loads as well as down loads.
