ABSTRACT This contraption is permanently attached to footwears in order to improve traction on slippery surfaces such as mud, grass, ice or snow and other superficially rugged surfaces. The use of the footwear with this contraption on smooth and fine surfaces such as floors, streets and concrete pavements will not be impaired or detracted because the device is adjustable to function also on such surface conditions. Unlike other shoes with immovable and permanent spikes or with fastener slip over shoes, this contraption when incorporated to ordinary shoes, can be adjusted instantly to retract or protract the spikes by moving a lever at the under-middle portion of the footwear; forward to retract the spikes when walking on fine and smooth surfaces or backward to protract the spikes down for better traction on slippery and rugged surfaces or vice versa. The gadget is incorporated to the footwear during its manufacture at a relatively nominal expense, costwise advantageous to the buying public. The convenience and affordable cost to people of all ages will reduce if not totally prevent the slip- ping accidents of persons walking outdoors during winter in all countries with frozen climate. Likewise, combat soldiers, hikers, hunters, and golfers altogether will greatly benefit from its use.
