Le sèche-bottes est composé de deux éléments chauffants alimentés par une prise électrique courante (120 VAC-60Hz.), pour sécher une paire de bottes/chaussures, chaque élément chauffant est inséré dans une botte/chaussure et la fiche électrique d'alimentation est branchée dans la prise murale. L'électricité est distribuée dans un premier élément chauffant (thermostat), duquel un autre fil conducteur dirige l'électricité au deuxième élément chauffant. Le principal élément esthétique est le couvercle en plastique. Les principaux éléments impliqués dans le séchage sont la base et l'élément chauffant. L'élément chauffant est la source de chaleur et la base a le rôle de répartir la source chaleur uniformément sur une grande surface. La base chaude sèchera la botte/chaussure par conduction, convection et rayonnement.
