Footwear (1), incorporating a reversible a tongue (6), wherein one side or the other of the tongue (6) may be adhered to the upper central vamp portion (3) of a shoe (1) to display that side of the tongue (6) during wearing of the shoe (1), and to provide a variation in the styling of the shoe (1). The tongue (6) may further contain a pouch or pocket (15, 16), secured by any fastening device (18) that allows ready access into the tongue (6) for deposit or removal of personal items. One or more of the surfaces (15,16) of the pocket formed in the tongue (6) may be formed of a transparent or clear material to allow any personal item deposited therein to be readily viewed.
