ABSTRACT In an electrolytic, diaphragm-type cell having hollow, foraminous pocket or finger electrodes, an improved electrode structure is provided wherein a diaphragm of a pre-formed polymeric sheet material is folded around one edge of the electrode and sealed along the open edges away from the fold to form a complete enclosure around the electrode. Means are provided for movement of fluids and gases to and from the interior of the electrode perform the additional function of attach- ing the electrode to a support member.
