Process for the production of an improved form of Form 1 Ranitidine Hydrochloride having improved filtration and drying characteristics, said process comprising in a substantially anhydrous hydroxylic solvent, comprising at least one alkanol solvent having 3 - 4 carbon atoms, adding anhydrous hydrogen chloride gas to Ranitidine free base wherein said substantially anhydrous hydroxylic solvent has the characteristics that it solubilizes the Ranitidine free base and hydrogen chloride gas, and subsequently recovering the improved form of Form 1 Ranitidine Hydrochloride.

Processus de production d'une forme améliorée de 1-chlorhydrate de ranitidine possédant des caractéristiques améliorées pour la filtration et le séchage; ledit processus comprend un solvant composé dans une large mesure d'hydroxyle anhydre qui contient au moins un solvant d'alcanol de trois à quatre atomes; à cela s'ajoute du gaz de cholure d'hydrogène anhydre à une base libre de ranitidine, où ledit solvant composé dans une large mesure d'hydroxyle anhydre a pour caractéristique de solubiliser la base libre de ranitidine et le gaz de chlorure d'hydrogène, ce qui aboutit subséquemment à la forme améliorée de 1-chlorhydrate de ranitidine.
