An aqueous finishing composition for cellulose-containing materials, comprising a hydroxyalkyl-functional organophosphorus flame retardant (which contains a substantially non-volatile component at the curing temperature) and a non-formaldehyde cross-linking agent (such as a polycarboxylic acid cross- linking agent), and the materials treated with such a composition. Optional ingredients for the aqueous finishing composition include a cross-linking catalyst and/or an inexpensive saturated alpha-hydroxy polycarboxylic acid such as citric acid (partial replacement of a more expensive preferred polycarboxylic acid will reduce finishing costs).
Composition de finition aqueuse pour des matériaux contenant de la cellulose et contenant un agent ignifuge d'organophosphore possédant une fonctionnalité hydroxyalkyle (contenant un constituant sensiblement non volatil à la température de durcissement) et un agent de réticulation autre que formaldéhyde (tel qu'un agent de réticulation d'acide polycarboxylique), et matériau traité au moyen de cette composition. Des ingrédients éventuels de cette composition consistent en un catalyseur de réticulation et/ou un acide alpha-hydroxy polycarboxylique saturé économique, tel qu'acide citrique (qui remplace partiellement un acide polycarboxylique préféré plus cher, ce qui diminue les coûts de finition).
