A subcutaneously formed in place orthopedic fixation device is provided, such as for fixation of the spine or other bone or bones. The device comprises an inflatable member (102), such as a tubular balloon (114). A heat source is provided in thermal communication with the interior of the balloon (114). The balloon (114) is positioned at a treatment site while in a flexible, low crossing profile configuration. The balloon (114) is thereafter inflated with a hardenable media, and heated to accelerate hardening of the media. Methods and delivery structures are also disclosed.

L'invention se rapporte à un dispositif de fixation orthopédique formé sur place, en sous cutané, permettant de fixer la colonne vertébrale ou un autre/des autres os. Ce dispositif comprend un élément gonflable tel qu'un ballon tubulaire. Une source de chaleur est installée en communication thermique avec l'intérieur de ce ballon, lequel est placé au niveau d'un site de traitement selon une configuration de profil faible et souple. Ce ballon est, par la suite, gonflé au moyen d'un support durcissable, puis chauffé afin d'accélérer le durcissement du support. L'invention concerne aussi des procédés et des structures de distribution.
