ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A dye image is formed by a process which comprises imagewise exposing a photosensitive material to light and sub- jecting the exposed photosensitive material to an alkaline pro- cessing solution in the presence of a dye developer including an antnraguinone nucleus having thereon at least one substituent represented by the general formula Image wherein R is alkyl having at least one halogen at the .alpha.- or .beta.-position and Ar is a sub- stituted or unsubstituted aryl, the dye developer further com- prising at least one group capable of functioning as a silver halide developer or the precursor thereof, whereby a dye image is formed corresponding to the imagewise exposure.
