A forming apparatus (10) for forming a selected profile in a sheet of material includes a frame (12), a sheet drive (50) to advance the sheet of material through the frame, forming rollers (74, 76) to configure the sheet into the desired profile and a shear assembly (100) to cut the formed sheet into desired lengths. The sheet drive includes pairs of coacting rollers with each pair comprising a driven roller (56, 67) connected to the drive assembly and a free-wheeling roller (54, 65) that is adjustably mounted relative to its associated driven roller. The shear assembly has a housing (110) that movably mounts a pair of opposed blade mounts (130, 132) that have facing channels (120) which receive lateral edges of a blade (120). The blade freely floats within the channels and is thus self-aligning between dies. The blade has a cutting edge (164) configured to always attack the formed sheet at a rake angle of at least five degrees in a scissor action.

Le transporteur (40) comprend des paires de galets coagissants dont chacune comporte un galet mené (56, 57) relié à un ensemble d'entraînement et un galet en roue libre (54, 65) réglable par rapport au galet mené associé (56, 57). La cisaille comporte un logement (110) dans lequel se déplacent deux supports de lame opposés (130, 132) comportant des rainures se faisant face destinées à recevoir les bords latéraux de la lame (120). La lame qui flotte librement dans les rainures peut ainsi s'autoaligner entre les éléments de formage; elle présente un bord tranchant (164) conçu pour attaquer en permanence la feuille profilée sous un angle de coupe d'au moins 5· à l'instar de ciseaux.
