D-6451a (Kab) FORMING STRANDED STOCK Plural strands, e.g., conductors, having a particular cross section, are drawn off spool, run through straightening rolls, and are combined in a bundle in a first stranding point. Brackets on a caterpillar-like capstan grip the bundle and hold it while turning the bundle on the stranding axis. The bundle continues toward a second stranding point spaced particularly from the cap- stan. The stationary (nonrevolving) stranding pints can be estab- lished by nipples or by additional, nonrevolving capstans, in which case slidable brackets are used to compensate speed differentials. The revolving capstan may rotate continuously or reverse periodi- cally to obtain different types of stranding patterns. -1-
