This invention relates to the use of a cyclic compound of formula (I), wherein A, B independently in each occurrence is alkane-i,j-diyl having k carbon atoms, i and independently j being less than or equal k and k being selected from 1 to 10, wherein said alkane-i,j-diyl (i) may comprise one or more double bonds; (ii) is optionally substituted; and/or (iii) comprises a cycle, wherein the total number of cycles being cyclic sugars in said compound is selected from 0 to 4 and is less than p (n+m); X,Y independently in each occurrence is a biocompatible functional group comprising at least one oxygen atom or two sulphur atoms; n, m independently of each other are selected from 0 to 20; p is selected from 1 to 10; n+m is equal or greater than 1; and p.(n+m) is selected from 3 to 30; wherein said compound is capable of forming a complex with a protonated primary and/or protonated secondary amino group and/or a protonated guanidinium group for the manufacture of a pharmaceutical or diagnostic composition further comprising a pharmaceutically or diagnostically active agent, said active agent comprising one or more protonated primary and/or protonated secondary amino groups and/or a protonated guanidinium groups, wherein (a) transmembrane and/or transmucosal delivery; (b) solubility in non-aqueous solvents; and/or (c) stability of said active agent are improved.

La présente invention concerne l'utilisation d'un composé cyclique représenté par la formule générale (I) et convenant à la fabrication d'une composition pharmaceutique ou d'une composition de diagnostic. Dans cette formule, A et B sont indépendamment dans chaque occurrence alcane-i,j-diyl portant k atomes de carbone, i et j valant indépendamment l'un de l'autre au maximum k qui est un nombre choisi de 1 à 10. Ledit alcane-i,j-diyl (i) peut comprendre au moins une double liaison, (ii) est éventuellement substitué, et/ou (iii) comprend un cycle, le nombre total de cycles étant des sucres cycliques dans ledit composé étant sélectionné de 0 à 4 en restant inférieur à p.(n+m); X et Y sont indépendamment dans chaque occurrence un groupe fonctionnel biocompatible comprenant au moins un atome d'oxygène ou deux atomes de soufre; n et m sont choisis indépendamment l'un de l'autre de 0 à 20; p est choisi de 1 à 10; n+m n'excède pas 1, et p.(n+m) est choisi de 3 à 30. Ledit composé est capable de former un complexe avec un groupe amino primaire protoné et/ou un groupe amino secondaire protoné et/ou un groupe guanidine protoné. La composition pharmaceutique ou la composition de diagnostic comprend en outre un agent pharmaceutiquement ou diagnostiquement actif, ledit agent actif comprenant au moins groupe amino primaire protoné et/ou un groupe amino secondaire protoné et/ou un groupe guanidine protoné. L'invention permet une amélioration (a) de l'administration transmembranaire et/ou transmuqueuse, (b) de la solubilité dans des solvants non aqueux, et/ou (c) de la stabilité dudit agent actif.
