A powder coating material for the production of capsules by electrostatic powder deposition comprises hydroxypropyl cellulose and stearic acid. Such materials provide a suitably flexible capsule and have improved properties in electrostatic deposition process for capsule production. Other possible components included, for example, vinyl pyrrolidone/vinyl acetate copolymers, aminoalkyl methacrylate polymers, sugar alcohols and opacifier.
