ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An omega formyl alkenoic acid containing from 8 to 12 carbon atoms is obtained by reacting a polyunsaturated hydro- carbon cycloolefin containing from 8 to 12 carbon atoms with ozone to form a mono-ozonide, which is then subjected to a trans- position step to produce the omega formyl alkenoic acid.
