A foundation vent (20) for use with concrete forms (31) is disclosed. The vent includes two frames that telescope together into a plurality of locking positions to allow the width of the vent to be changed to match the thickness of the concrete wall. The first frame (26) includes first walls (34) and a first flange (40). The first frame has a first inner end (36), and a first outer end (38). The first flange is disposed around a perimeter of the first outer end. The second frame (28) includes secondwalls (60) and a second flange (70). The second frame has a second inner end (66), and a second outer end (68). The second flange is disposed around a perimeter of the second outer end. A ridge (74) engages in channels (52, 58) defined by a plurality of shoulders (50, 54) disposed on the frames to allow the two frames to telescope together and to lock at various, predetermined widths. The ridge is disposed around a perimeter of the second inner end of the second frame. The ridge thus engages one of the channels. The foundation vent is used by locking the frames together to form the desired width, securing the vent between the concrete forms in a desired location, pouring the concrete between the forms around at least a portion of the vent. After the concrete cures, the forms are removed, tearing away breakaway portions on the flanges, leaving the foundation vent mounted in the concrete foundation.

L'évent comprend deux cadres entrant l'un dans l'autre rendant possible plusieurs positions de blocage, ce qui permet de modifier sa largeur pour qu'elle corresponde à l'épaisseur de la paroi de béton. Le premier cadre (26) comprend les premières parois (34) et une première bride (40). Le premier cadre comprend une première extrémité intérieure (36) et une première extrémité extérieure (38). La première bride se trouve sur le périmètre de la première extrémité extérieure. Le deuxième cadre (28) comprend les deuxièmes parois (60) et une deuxième bride (70). Le deuxième cadre comporte une deuxième extrémité intérieure (66) et une deuxième extrémité extérieure (68). La deuxième bride se trouve sur le périmètre de la deuxième extrémité extérieure. Une crête (74) s'engage dans des passages (52, 58) définis par plusieurs épaulements (50, 54) se trouvant sur les cadres afin de permettre aux deux cadres de rentrer l'un dans l'autre et de se bloquer à différentes largeurs prédéterminées. La crête se trouve sur le périmètre de la deuxième extrémité intérieure du deuxième cadre. La crête s'engage donc dans un des deux passages. L'utilisation de l'évent de fondation consiste à bloquer les cadres ensemble pour obtenir la largeur désirée, à le fixer entre les coffrages à béton à l'emplacement voulu, à couler le béton dans les coffrages autour d'au moins une partie de l'évent. Après le durcissement du béton, les coffrages sont enlevés, ce qui détache les parties dépassant des brides; l'évent de fondation est donc installé dans la fondation de béton.
