389608 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A base metal or alloy in the molten state is further alloyed with readily oxidizable elements in an alloying chamber containing a non-oxidizing protective atmosphere, whereupon a plugged hole in the alloying chamber is opened to allow the alloy to flow into a mold cavity also previously filled with a non-oxidizing atmosphere; consequently, the easily oxidized alloy is cast in the absence of atmospheric oxygen.
