A fountain solution for lithographic printing comprising between about 2% to about 8% of 2-propoxyethanol, between about 0.01% to about 1% of 1,4-butene diol, optionally between about 0.07% to about 2% of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, between about 0.01% to about 0.5% of polyvinyl pyrrolidone, the balance of the solution being water. The solution eliminates the use of isopropyl alcohol and the evaporation problems associated therewith.

Solution de mouillage pour impression offset contenant environ de 2 à 8 % de 2-propoxyéthanol, environ de 0,01 à 1 % de 1,4-diol buténique, optionnellement environ de 0,07 à 2 % de n-méthyl-2-pyrrolidone, environ de 0,01 à 0,5 % de polyvinylpyrrolidone; le reste de la solution étant de l'eau. La solution évite l'utilisation d'alcool isopropylique et les problèmes d'évaporation connexes.
