A printhead system includes a plurality of printhead assemblies (10) aligned in end-to-end relationship. Each print- head assembly (10) includes a plurality of printhead modules (12), the printhead modules (12) being arranged in end-to-end rela- tionship and being angled with respect to a longitudinal axis of the assembly (10) such that printhead chips (18) of adjacent modules (12) overlap in a direction transversely to a direction of movement of print media past the assemblies (10).
