ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus and method for simulating "light-on-skids" maneuver of a skid-equipped helicopter by treating the aircraft as having four landing struts. The ground forces reacting on the fore and aft strut attachment points on each skid are used to simulate an extremely realistic take-off and landing of a helicopter in an aircraft simulator with the cockpit mounted on a moving platform in accordance with invention.
