D-l, 736 C-2944 FOUR SPEED POWER TRANSMISSION WITH OVERDRIVE Abstract of the Disclosure A power transmission, having three interconnected simple planetary gear sets, two friction clutches and three friction brakes operable to establish two underdrive forward ratios, a direct forward ratio, an overdrive forward ratio and a reverse ratio, is provided for use in a motor vehicle. The overdrive ratio is established through the engagement of one clutch and one brake. The interconnection between two of the planetary gear sets is such that a compound reaction is provided therebetween resulting in an overdrive ratio from the input to the output.
