ABSTRACT A new compound having biological activity called FR-900848 and its pharmaceutically acceptable salts. This compound and its salts have antimicro- bial activity against various microorganisms. They are useful for the treatment of infectious diseases in human beings and animals. The compound is produced by culturing a strain belonging to the genus Streptoverticillium such as Strep- toverticillium fervens HP891 in a nutrient medium.
